I always feel a little funny telling people that we have a waterfall in our bluffs. I feel like I'm lying. When I imagine a waterfall, I think about Black Eagle Falls back home or Memorial Falls up by Neihart. I imagine a tall majestic drop from one level to another. Gilmore Creek's waterfall is not that.
This is Gilmore Creek's waterfall. It's man-made and all the steel, pipes, and concrete that surround the site scream "Artificial."
Nonetheless, there's something about hearing the flow of water that calms me and offers the opportunity to sit back, step back from my life, and relax. For that reason there's also a certain amount of beauty in the creek.
The location of this shot is maybe fifteen feet from yesterday's post, but was taken in October.
I'll be on the train tonight and most of tomorrow (I only have to survive three more of these 19-plus hour trips before I relocate in Montana) so if I get a post up tomorrow it will be late. I'm so excited to go home; Papa and I are getting a shave, so keep an eye out for that...
