Ninth Street Bridge | 08:27PM Jun 21, 2008
Whew; I'm finally done with the week! After a week of spilling out much of what I know about InDesign, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver, the past hour has been an enormous relief: that is, working in Lightroom and Photoshop. Not to say that I don't love those other programs, but despite my fondness of each, I'm still a Photoshop junkie at heart.
This shot comes from a shoot I did last weekend of Great Falls' 9th street bridge over the Missouri from the 15th street bridge. Most anyone from Great Falls is quite familiar with this bridge, but for those of you (which is most) who are not, I'll explain (correct me on my dates, etc. for those of you who know better). Directly behind the bridge you see here is a newer bridge that was built maybe ten years ago. Soon after the completion of the process, the debate began about the old ninth street bridge and whether or not to demolish it. A large group formed that advocated the renovation of the old bridge as a walking bridge (though the project has yet to be completed) and the demolition was suspended. This past fall, the city purchased a set of blue-ish lights to be installed under the bridge on weekends, thus emphasizing the structure's beauty. Obviously, you can see those lights here as well as the lights from the city which surround it.
So, here's a little view from the world of my upbringing. This site is a little more than ten blocks from my house and is one that I saw numerous times during my childhood.
The processing on this one was a bit tricky. Because the shot has a lot of repetition in detail, I had to trick the Photomerge automation a couple times. Aside from that, I just added a small curves adjustment, and cropped.
Again, my apologies for being absent from the blog so long. I'm excited to get back into posting and hearing what you think about each shot. So, as always, fire away with those critiques!
