I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about agriculture, farms, crops, or anthing that has to do with living a rural life. When it comes to that sort of thing, I may as well be from New York. Even so, part of me wishes I were more of a country boy. There's something about the isolation of a place like this that really appeals to me.
I've always loved being alone. When I reached adolescence, I asked my parents if I could have my own room in the basement so that I could have my own domain. That attitude hasn't changed today and since I fell in love with photography, there seems to be some purpose to that isolation.
I think this is a picture of wheat. And when I took it, my little brother Matty was standing by my side. So, despite the obvious contradictions, what I just wrote is what this shot communicates to me. And I still don't know anything about farms.
I had fun processing this one. I think the desaturated vignette adds a depth it wouldn't have otherwise. Your thoughts?
